The Delavan Downtown Business Association

is Putting Together A Delavan Holiday Cookbook

Download PDF form to send in recipe

Delavan's Downtown Business Association needs you to submit your best holiday recipes for the Delavan Cookbook they are creating for next year. Think of those special meals and goodies you make for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July, or any other Holiday that your family loves to celebrate. Please follow the below guidelines when submitting your recipe(s).

1. Please type your recipe. This will help avoid errors! If you can't type them, please print them.

2. Type only one recipe per sheet of paper.

3. Do not continue recipes on the back of the paper. If the recipe is long, continue it onto another sheet of paper and staple.

4. List all ingredients in the order of use in both the ingredients list and in the directions.

5. Abbreviate measurements in the ingredients list using the Standard Abbreviation,
which we have included below:
pt.= pint
qt.= quart
pkg.= package
env.= envelope
c.= cup
tsp.= teaspoon
T.= Tablespoon
oz.= ounces
lb.= pounds
gal.= gallons
doz.= dozen
sm.= small
med.= medium
lg.= large

6. Include container sizes (e.g., 16-oz. can).

7. Type directions in paragraph form, not in steps.

8. Use names of ingredients in direction (e.g., "Combine flour and sugar." DO NOT use statements like, "Combine first three ingredients").

9. Include temperatures and cooking, chilling, baking, and/or freezing times.

10. Include the recipe Category. Which category does your recipe fall into?
Appetizers & Beverages
Soups & Salads
Vegetables & Side Dishes
Main Dishes
Bread & Rolls
Desserts
Cookies & Candy
This & That

11. Please be sure to include your name, so we know who submitted the recipe. If you own or operate a Delavan business, please include the business name and your title. If you are a city official, please include your title. We want this to be a truly Delavan Cookbook!

12. Please include what Holiday(s) you use this recipe.

13. Please be sure to include the recipe title.

14. Please check your spelling!

The Downtown Business Association is creating this "Hometown Holiday Favorites" Cookbook as a fundraiser. The DBA is a nonprofit organization that pays for the 40 American Flags that fly downtown May through November, sponsors Scarecrow Fest, sponsors Delavan Daze,sponsors the Delavan Fresh Market, provides free carriage rides during the Holiday Season, provides other free downtown activities, and is currently putting a Downtown Kiosk in to advertise local activities. We need your help to make this cookbook project successful!

Once we have the recipes organized and the cookbook designed, we will allow people to reserve cookbooks. If you prepay for your cookbook, you'll save money!
