Our main goal with health education is just that, “Health Education”. We realize that education is the only hope we have of leaving a lasting impact for many years to come. Education begins with basic programs initially. Programs of hand washing, cleanliness of food, sanitation, first aid, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, family planning, pre and post natal care, nutrition, animal husbandry, agriculture, environmental issues such as composting, clean water and insect control need to be addressed. The list of basic programs goes on and on but are all related to health. Many of these programs have begun already and some are in the planning and curriculum stage. People with the interest and or knowledge are always needed to help develop and implement them. We request volunteers willing to develop curriculum and teaching aids. Public Health and Education background personnel would provide immeasurable assistance. Our volunteer page will provide you with information if it is in your heart to get involved. We plan to initiate community education programs. Training of local Haitians in areas of basic health and hygiene will allow those premise issues to spread and continue in the weeks and months we are not in Haiti. We aim to partner with the school systems. Children need to learn much more then reading, writing and arithmetic. This knowledge will be spread to future generations.
