Help Us to Help the Haitian People in Need!
Friends of the Children is a 501(c)3 organization and needs over $12,000 to fund each of its mission trips. Expenses include medications, interpreters, and medical-dental supplies along with emergency life saving surgeries as needed. All volunteer expenses (flights, room and board) are paid for by the volunteers.Any amount that you contribute will help change the life... of a Haitian child or adult. No amount is too small and no amount too large!Examples of what can be accomplished with your donation: $8.00 will buy medicine to treat 5 people for malaria or casting material for a broken arm.$17.00 will pay for an x ray of a broken arm in the Haitian hospital plus transportation to the hospital by tap tap (1½ hours away by vehicle- a 4 hour walk- one way).$20.00 covers asthma medication for 1 person for 1 year or liquid antibiotics for 12 children.$25.00 pays for enough antibiotic tablets (amox.) to treat infection in 20 people or a #50 bag of rice for a family with no food.$40.00 buys meds to treat intestinal worms in 250 people for 1 year.$50 treats 3 adults with high blood pressure for 1 full year or 3 people with seizure medication for 1 full year.$75- $100 can pay for a lifesaving hernia surgery.$100 covers enough prenatal vitamins for 35 women for 6 months.$270 supplies daily vitamins for a school of 300 children for a full six months.The above list gives examples of costs. Our supply needs are many and include meds, surgical supplies, dental supplies, nutritional supplements, baby formula for babies whose mothers died in childbirth etc. Your donations directly support the people in Haiti who need our care. We take donations seriously and try to make the dollars go as far as possible. Most of our supplies are purchased through other non profit groups at greatly reduced cost.Thank you for your support and generosity!!
