Our practice in delivering medical care prioritizes
treatment to those acutely ill or injured. Simultaneously, education is provided in order to promote healthy habits and disease prevention. Our goal is to teach the people so they don't have reoccurrences of the illnesses or problems.
Typically we treat the following conditions malaria, wounds, broken bones, typhoid fever, intestinal parasites, normal childhood illnesses, mumps, whooping cough, malnourishment, dental decay, facial infections, burns, asthma, seizure disorders, hypertension, diabetes, etc.
Future goals for medical treatment include the training and educating of local residents to provide a level of care in our absence. First aid, well baby care, triage and nutritional counseling are all in the scope of care. Training programs and the necessary medical equipment are currently being obtained. (stethoscopes, thermometers, bandages etc)
Our clinic is the only medical care on the mountain. There is a government health worker in the community. She has very basic medical skills. The government offers no continuing ed and no supplies for her to use.
